Respect theatre venues— Thlupego

Director of Lions Theatre, Thlupego Chisiza, has warned people against causing disturbances during performances, saying such distractions affect actors and might ruin a performance.

“Our actors are well trained. It is less likely that they might be affected by such disturbances, but it is a distraction to those that come to watch,” he said.

Chisiza then advised his fellow artists to take performances seriously and to discipline their audience.

“Even my father [the late Du Chisiza Junior] would throw out everyone who would come to his performance to cause distractions—that is a duty of every serious performer, to take action,” he said.

Chisiza said if the distractions persist, some people will start shunning performances.

Chisiza is set to perform Joyce and Zokoto wa Zokora at Nanzikambe Arts Café from November 1 to 3.

Joyce

is expected to be staged at 6 pm on November 1 while Zokoto wa Zokora will be performed at 6pm on Saturday November 2 and both plays will be restaged for family viewing on November 3 from 1pm.

Meanwhile, Chisiza has added a short scene that depicts the Capital Hill Cash-Gate scandal to the original Joyce script. However, Zokoto wa Zokora will be staged in its original form.
